IRON MAIDEN frontman Bruce Dickinson revealed at San Diego Comic-Con that his upcoming solo album will include a track co-written with his son, Austin Dickinson, calling it "one of the key tracks on the record."
Austin, 35, previously fronted the metal bands RISE TO REMAIN and AS LIONS before shifting much of his creative output toward script writing in recent years, though he has remained active across multiple artistic disciplines. Speaking about his son's range, Bruce said: "His whole life is doing stuff. And you've gotta put it somewhere," framing the collaboration as a natural extension of Austin's restless creative output finding a home on his father's record.
The album was recorded in January and February 2026 at Dave Grohl's Studio 606 in Northridge, California, with the band tracking a striking 16 songs in just 21 days, all performed live in the room. The lineup backing Dickinson includes keyboardist Mistheria, drummer Dave Moreno, bassist Tanya O'Callaghan, and guitarists Chris Declercq and Philip Näslund. In a notable guest appearance, SEPULTURA guitarist Andreas Kisser contributes percussion to the record — an unusual but eyebrow-raising credit for the veteran Brazilian thrash metal musician. The album is expected to arrive in early 2027, following Dickinson's last solo effort, "The Mandrake Project," released in March 2024.
Dickinson also used the Comic-Con appearance to address his physical condition following hip replacement surgery in recent years, joking about his continued stamina on stage and in the studio: "I got two metal hips ... but I'm still running around like a lunatic, and the voice is doing great." The comment reassured fans ahead of IRON MAIDEN's ongoing touring commitments and Dickinson's own solo plans, underlining that neither his energy nor his vocal range have been diminished by the procedures.
Details on the album's title, tracklist and lead single have not yet been announced, but the rapid, live-in-the-room recording approach and the family collaboration with Austin mark a notably personal chapter for Dickinson as he prepares his fourth full solo studio outing since "Tyranny Of Souls" in 2005 launched the modern phase of his solo career.
