HARLOTT Announce New Album 'Exsequiis', Share Video For 'Trial By Liar'

Australian thrash veterans HARLOTT are returning with their fifth studio album, "Exsequiis," due September 11 via Metal Blade Records — the band's first full-length in six years.

HARLOTT formed roughly two decades ago in Melbourne, when four teenagers assembled under a name chosen, by the band's own account, largely because it looked good on a black T-shirt. What began as an in-joke has since become one of Australia's most reliable thrash exports, with the band sharpening its breakneck, high-tension attack across a string of releases: the 2013 debut "Origin," followed by "Proliferation" (2015), "Extinction" (2017) and "Detritus Of The Final Age" (2020).

"Exsequiis" is described by the band as the boldest leap forward of its career — denser, harsher and more confident than anything that came before it, built on a razor-sharp sound picture, world-class guitar work and relentless momentum. Lyrically, the record casts a jaundiced eye over a bitterly divided world, framed by the band as "the death of the gods, delivered by thrash metal artisans in the prime of their lives."

The album's arrival is previewed by a video for "Trial By Liar," one of eleven tracks that make up "Exsequiis," alongside cuts including "Incipiam," "Void," "Messiah Simplex," "The God That Knows No Name" and the closing title track.

"Exsequiis" will be available on CD, digital and vinyl, including a limited "Coagulation" A-side/B-side color variant capped at 500 copies for the European market.

HARLOTT will back the release with a run of European tour dates in September, kicking off in Burghausen, Germany on release day and working through the Czech Republic, Poland, Austria, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Belgium, including a stop at Nuclear Intervention Fest in Kadov u Blatné.

Twenty years on from four teenagers picking a name for its T-shirt potential, HARLOTT's "Exsequiis" arrives as a statement of a band still operating at full throttle — sharper, heavier and more focused than at any previous point in its catalog.
