Atlanta progressive metal band SIGHT OF THEIA will release its debut full-length album, "The Great Dreamer," on September 4, 2026. The self-released record pairs crushing riffs and intricate musicianship with an immersive science-fiction narrative that follows humanity's encounter with an ancient nightmare in the depths of space.

Founded by guitarist and primary songwriter Alex Buhlig, SIGHT OF THEIA went through several lineup changes before settling into its current roster of drummer Ricky Shenkman, guitarist Charles Von Kanel and bassist Bill Pritchard. The band built its name in the Atlanta metal scene through energetic live shows and its previous release, the "Lighthouse" EP. "The Great Dreamer" marks a considerably more ambitious step, built as a full concept album that fuses the technical precision of progressive metal with heavier emotional stakes. The band credits the addition of vocalist Haden Rider as the final piece that let the record's story come together, with his performance carrying much of the narrative weight.

Describing the album's premise, the band says: "The Great Dreamer is Sight of Theia's cosmic horror themed debut album telling the story of astronauts that find Cthulhu in space." Musically, the record draws on thunderous grooves, progressive arrangements, atmospheric textures and haunting melodies, and the band points to MASTODON, LEPROUS and MESHUGGAH as reference points for what listeners can expect.

The album's lineup features Alex Buhlig on guitars, synths and backing vocals, Charles Von Kanel on guitars, Haden Rider on lead vocals, Bill Pritchard on bass, and Ricky Shenkman on drums and backing vocals. The production credits reflect the scope of the project: the album was mixed and mastered by Christoffer Borg, with drum engineering by John Douglass, guitar/bass editing and bass engineering by Alex Parra, vocal editing by Corey Bautista, and cover artwork by Sara Slick.

With a fully realized concept, dense musicianship and expansive songwriting, "The Great Dreamer" is a bold opening statement for a band aiming to make an impression on the progressive metal underground. The album arrives worldwide on September 4, 2026, and is available now for pre-save and pre-order.
