Tony Iommi has announced "From The Dark," his first solo album in 21 years, out via BMG. The BLACK SABBATH founder confirmed the record at a global streaming event in Birmingham, where lead single "World Alone" received its premiere.
It is Iommi's third solo album, following "Iommi" in 2000 and "Fused" in 2005. Where those records rotated through a cast of guest singers, "From The Dark" commits to one voice: Norwegian vocalist Jorn Lande, who shares writing credits on every song. Lande — best known for ARK, MASTERPLAN and his long-running solo work, and one of the most obvious inheritors of the Dio-school bellow — is joined by bassist Becky Baldwin and drummer Karl Brazil. Iommi produced alongside Mike Exeter, his collaborator on "The Devil You Know" and "13."
Iommi kept his own assessment characteristically unfussy. "It's an album we've really enjoyed making," he said. "We're not trying to prove anything — it's a great album, it rocks!"

The release is being given a properly heavyweight physical rollout: a limited-edition seven-inch of "World Alone" on September 4, a double LP cut at 45rpm across four colour variants, an Amazon-exclusive CD in a die-cut sleeve, and a deluxe 32-page CD media book containing the bonus tracks.
The album arrives at a heavy moment for Iommi. He reunited with BLACK SABBATH for the "Back To The Beginning" farewell show in Birmingham in July 2025, weeks before Ozzy Osbourne's death, and marked the first anniversary of that loss earlier this month. He was appointed MBE in the King's Birthday Honours in June.
Iommi first confirmed a third solo album was coming in January, then spent months saying little, before teasing the announcement on social media yesterday. At 78, with the band that invented the genre now closed as a chapter, he is stepping out under his own name — and, on the evidence of the title, not softening the approach.
