BEARTOOTH have released "Pure Ecstasy" via Fearless Records, their sixth album and their first for the label, and shared an official music video for "Beautiful Again" alongside it.
The record was written, recorded and largely produced by frontman Caleb Shomo, with select collaborations from Jordan Fish, the former BRING ME THE HORIZON member who has since worked with Halsey and GOOD CHARLOTTE. At eleven tracks in under forty minutes, it is built to move.
"Beautiful Again" was the first song written in the Fish sessions, and Shomo credits the collaborator with pushing him somewhere he had been avoiding. "He was adamant that I dig in and write about exactly what I'm going through and how I feel," Shomo said. "To me, this song perfectly depicts the duality of my headspace while writing the album. Pure joy and pure despair, nothing in between."
That duality runs through the whole record. The title track came out of a session with Misha Mansoor — "ridiculous loudspeakers, and the dumbest heaviest chugs we could chug", as Shomo tells it — then went home to be expanded with Fish, at which point there was no question it would open the album. "Free", meanwhile, is the song he says starts the next chapter of both his music and his life. "The emotional roller coaster that is living can be very complicated at times. In one day you can equally experience pure fear and pure joy. 'Free' is the most honest depiction of my soul I will most likely ever make."
BEARTOOTH arrive at this record from a genuinely commercial peak. 2023's "The Surface" debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Alternative and Hard Music charts and produced two No. 1 rock radio singles in "Might Love Myself" and "I Was Alive". "Pure Ecstasy" landed on NPR's New Music Friday longlist on release day.
The "Pure Ecstasy World Tour" opens September 17 in Europe. The North American leg begins November 11 in Boston, hits New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom on November 12 and closes at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles on December 18, with DON BROCO, MAGNOLIA PARK and WINDWAKER supporting the U.S. dates.
