Bruce Dickinson has recruited horror film veteran Bill Moseley for one of the music videos supporting his forthcoming eighth solo album.
Moseley confirmed the shoot himself, posting a photo alongside Dickinson in what looks like open Nevada desert. "Had a blast working on a video with IRON MAIDEN frontman Bruce Dickinson today in the hinterlands outside of Vegas," he wrote. "114 Fahrenheit in the shade, if there had been any shade!" That is roughly 45 degrees Celsius, which explains the qualifier.
The clip is being directed by Leo Liberti, the Italian-Brazilian director and post-production artist who handled Dickinson's recent "Change Of Heart" and "Tears Of The Dragon" videos — so this is a continuing working relationship rather than a one-off hire.
Moseley is a genuine horror institution. He played Otis B. Driftwood across Rob Zombie's Firefly trilogy, beginning with "House Of 1000 Corpses", and Robert "Chop Top" Sawyer in "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2". His other roles include Luigi Largo in "Repo! The Genetic Opera" and Johnny Todd in the "Night Of The Living Dead" remake, and metal audiences will know him as Captain Harris from a long run of ICE NINE KILLS videos.
The album itself is tentatively due in early 2027 via BMG. Most of it was recorded in January and February at Dave Grohl's Studio 606 in Northridge, California with producer Brendan Duffey, who previously handled "More Balls To Picasso" — the re-recorded, remixed and remastered version of Dickinson's second solo album, issued in July 2025. Duffey is mixing the record at his own studio in Jupiter, Florida.
Dickinson recorded sixteen songs across a three-week window. "We did it all 100 percent live," he told Rolling Stone in April. "It's like the anti-A.I. generation." The recording lineup is his touring band: keyboardist Mistheria, drummer Dave Moreno, bassist Tanya O'Callaghan and guitarists Chris Declercq and Philip Näslund. SEPULTURA guitarist Andreas Kisser also contributes percussion, and Dickinson has confirmed a collaboration with his eldest son Austin, formerly of RISE TO REMAIN and AS LIONS.
He has also signalled that more is coming this year and that the video work is being done in bulk. "At some point this month, I'm shooting four or maybe five videos for it," he said, adding: "I'm pretty busy in '27. And I think everybody's gonna be very happy with what I'm busy with — in every sense of the word."
The follow-up to "The Mandrake Project" marks a shift in method as much as personnel: that record was built largely with long-term co-writer Roy "Z" Ramirez at Los Angeles's Doom Room, with Roy Z playing both guitar and bass.
