Swedish death metal veterans HYPOCRISY have canceled their entire August 2026 North American tour, citing visa issues the band says were beyond their control.
The trek, dubbed "Mass Hallucination," was set to run August 10-23, comprising both headline dates and major support slots alongside DIMMU BORGIR, and was scheduled to open in Toronto and close in Los Angeles.
"Due to visa issues beyond our control, we won't be able to make it to the North American tour," the band said in a statement. "We're devastated, and truly sorry — we did everything we could."
HYPOCRISY did not specify the nature of the visa complications, a recurring headache for touring metal acts navigating U.S. and Canadian immigration processing timelines. No rescheduled dates have been announced, though the band signaled the cancellation isn't necessarily permanent.
"We're not giving up," the statement continued. "We'll keep working to make this right and get to you as soon as we can!"
Ticket holders have been directed to contact their original point of purchase for refund information, as venues and promoters typically process refunds independently once a tour is officially called off.
The cancellation is a blow to North American fans of the long-running band, formed in Sweden in 1991 and known for genre staples like "The Fifth Adventure" and "Osculum Obscenum." It also leaves a gap in DIMMU BORGIR's previously announced August North American run, which had listed HYPOCRISY as a headlining co-bill on select dates.
