JUDICIARY have shared "Death Knell", the closing track from their forthcoming EP Stalagmite Angels, with a video filmed in the band's home state of Texas. It is the most savage thing on the record, and it lands as the last piece of the puzzle before the September 4 release on Closed Casket Activities.
Stalagmite Angels is a concept record, and an unusually literal one. It imagines a subterranean world — a place where hidden beauty lurks in the shadows and in the eye of the beholder, and where triumph means the ability to climb out of the depths and into the world above. Underneath the imagery, the subject is plainer: anger at the world, belief in yourself, and the recognition that harnessing both is what actually produces growth.
The Lubbock, Texas band's real advantage has always been their singularity. Stalagmite Angels collides influences from a lot of well-worn territory — metallic hardcore, death metal, black metal, d-beat and more — but nothing about the result sounds borrowed. It is the band's approach to that material, rather than the ingredients, that keeps them a genuinely one-of-a-kind part of where hardcore has gone in 2026.
Phil Odom produced the five-track EP, with mixing and mastering handled by Will Putney. It follows 2023's Flesh + Blood and arrives after a lineup shift that brought in guitarist Juan Vazquez, with vocalist Jake Collinson picking up guitar himself to help write the material. The lead single, "Wall of Skulls", came with a video directed by Wes Ellis.
The touring behind it is substantial. September takes JUDICIARY across North America, most of it opening for KILLSWITCH ENGAGE and MACHINE HEAD alongside RIVERS OF NIHIL. October and early November move to the UK and mainland Europe for a twenty-date run with GUILT TRIP, JUSTICE FOR THE DAMNED and LONG GOODBYE.
