LACRIMAS PROFUNDERE will release its new album, "Lay Me Down O Silent Fear," on September 25 via Steamhammer, the German gothic metal band has announced.

The ten-track record leans into the genre-blending approach LACRIMAS PROFUNDERE has refined across three decades, fusing gothic rock, heavy metal and modern production into what the band itself describes with some ambivalence: "We don't know, but at least we tried," guitarist Oliver Nikolas Schmid said of the fusion concept, a rare bit of candor about a record that clearly takes risks with its own formula.

Those risks show up across the tracklist. Debut single "O Silent Fear" splits the difference between AMORPHIS, ARCH ENEMY and HIM, opener "Days Of Doom" is described as evoking a "Mad Max"-style wasteland, "Faceless" leans into a gothic-metalcore hybrid, "Veil XV" is pitched as a multifaceted ballad, and "Nevermore" aims for straightforward goth-rock hook writing.

LACRIMAS PROFUNDERE has spent 33 years and more than 100 shows in just the past four years building a reputation across Europe, including festival slots and a 2025 support run with PARADISE LOST, racking up chart placements and international sales across some 40 countries along the way. "Lay Me Down O Silent Fear" arrives as the latest test of a band still willing, three decades in, to bend its own sound rather than repeat it.
