LACUNA COIL vocalist Andrea Ferro has spoken about the band's approach to staying authentic in an industry he says now runs almost entirely on social media, in a new interview with Sakis Fragos of Rock Hard Greece.
Ferro described a music discovery landscape that's shifted dramatically from magazines and radio toward platforms that can make a band's profile explode overnight — and collapse just as fast, driven by an audience conditioned to expect constant novelty. Against that backdrop, Ferro said the one thing LACUNA COIL isn't willing to compromise is sincerity. "It's important to keep the honesty in the musical offerings, even if sometimes it's not the most convenient choice," he said, arguing that audiences can tell the difference between a band chasing a trend and one playing music it actually believes in — and that spontaneity, more than strategy, is what's kept LACUNA COIL relevant across a catalog that now stretches back more than 25 years.
The comments come roughly a year and a half after "Sleepless Empire," the band's most recent album, released via Century Media Records in February 2025 and built partly out of sessions that grew from the band's 2022 "Comalies XX" anniversary reissue. That album also marked the live debut of guitarist Daniele Salomone, who stepped in for longtime member Diego Cavallotti — a departure that closed out Cavallotti's run with the band, which began in 2016 — with Salomone's first show coming at Rockstadt Extreme Fest in Romania in August 2024.
Ferro's comments read less like news of a specific new project than a statement of principle from a band whose commercial peak came at a very different moment in the industry — and one that's had to adapt more than once to stay on stage.
