MARILYN MANSON released "One Assassination Under God - Chapter 2" on Friday, August 14 via Nuclear Blast Records, and marked the occasion with a video for the opening track, "Unalive", directed by Anthony Silva.
The album is once again co-written and co-produced with Tyler Bates, and is framed by Manson as the closing half of a single arc. "I am proud to give you the second chapter of 'One Assassination Under God'. This completes my story," he said. "I used each stone that was thrown at me to sharpen my edges. I outgrew purgatory and carved these songs into the skin of the world. As you listen, I hope it forms a scar that you cannot forget."
The nine-track record runs: "Unalive", "Don't Answer The Door", "Front Toward Enemy", "All The Vilest Things", "None of the Suns", "Lucifer's Teardrop", "The Arsonist", "Exit Wound" and "Enantiomorph". First single "Exit Wound" appeared in June and pushed further into the industrial textures and cinematic unease that shaped "Chapter 1".
That first instalment landed in November 2024, also via Nuclear Blast, after a four-year silence broken by the singles "Raise The Red Flag" and "As Sick As The Secrets Within" in August 2024 and "Sacrilegious" a month later. Before that, Manson had not released new music since 2020's "We Are Chaos", and had been off the road since the final date of the "Twins Of Evil: Hell Never Dies" tour with Rob Zombie in August 2019. He returned to the stage in August 2024 at the opening night of FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH's summer arena run.
The gap was not voluntary. Over the past four years the 57-year-old, born Brian Warner, has been the subject of multiple abuse allegations — most prominently from "Westworld" actor Evan Rachel Wood — and was dropped by Loma Vista Recordings and the CAA agency in 2022. He has denied all the allegations, countersued several of his accusers, and has had a number of the lawsuits against him dismissed.
"Chapter 2" arrives days before a late-summer co-headline tour with Rob Zombie. Manson's current touring band features guitarist Nick Annis, bassist Tim Skold — who played with the group between 2002 and 2008 — and Piggy D., now on co-lead guitar.
