MORR have been going since 2000, and until now nobody would have called them a thrash band. That changes with Kości zostały rzucone — "the die is cast" — the Radom group's first studio album in eleven years, released independently on July 1 on CD and digitally.
The route here was not a straight line. The 2005 debut Morr was traditional heavy metal wrapped in keyboard atmosphere. The 2007 single Medalion pushed into progressive territory. By the time of Popiołem i cieniem… i wspomnieniem się staniesz… in 2015, further lineup changes had reshaped the band's identity again. Then the studio went quiet for over a decade.
What came back is faster and considerably meaner. The new material runs on dynamic, aggressive riffing, but it holds onto the melodic instinct that ran through everything MORR did before — the band cite the classic Polish canon of KAT, HUNTER and DRAGON alongside METALLICA, SLAYER, MEGADETH, DEATH ANGEL and NEVERMORE.
"The new songs draw inspiration from classic thrash metal, but they also reflect our musical tastes and our thoughts on the darker aspects of life," says band leader Daniel Klimczak. "We wanted to combine thrash energy with the sense of melody that was already present on MORR's earlier releases."
Lyrically the band works from fragments of dreams, the darker side of ordinary life, and moments of total surrender to the present — dark visions born of sleepless nights, the consequences of decisions, and choices where everything is put on the line. The album title is not decoration; it is the thesis.
Klimczak also recorded, mixed and mastered the album himself at FFF Studio in Radom. Two singles carry it: the title track, which arrived with a lyric video, and "Trupi jad" — "corpse venom" — which got the full official video treatment.
