PRONG Unleash 'The Banner', First Single From Self-Titled Napalm Records Debut

PRONG have released "The Banner," the first single from their self-titled album, due November 6 via Napalm Records. It is the New York veterans' first record for the label and, by frontman Tommy Victor's own account, a deliberate reset.

"The Banner" opens the album and wastes no time — machine-tight riffing under Victor's barked delivery, thrash sections opening into an unexpectedly lush chorus.

"We are unbelievably excited to share the first single, 'The Banner,' from our upcoming self-titled record," Victor said. "Andy Sneap's mix and master is absolutely blistering and ferocious. This is just the beginning and we hope you enjoy it."

Victor has framed the self-titled album as a statement of intent: "This could be the best PRONG album to date. It's definitely the best-sounding PRONG album ever, with the incredible Andy Sneap mixing and mastering it! This record represents a new lease on life for PRONG with a new label, a fresh attitude with faster and heavier songs, bigger hooks and top-notch sound quality. That's why it's self-titled; it's a redefining episode for PRONG!"

The 11-track album pulls from every strand of the band's history — industrial, thrash, groove metal and the New York hardcore that raised them. PRONG formed during CBGB's late-1980s renaissance alongside GORILLA BISCUITS, MADBALL, SICK OF IT ALL and BIOHAZARD, and set themselves apart with the melodic instincts that made Beg To Differ (1990) and Cleansing (1994) into "Headbangers Ball" staples.
