THE NIGHT ETERNAL Release The 'Eurydice (Don't Look Back)' Video — The First Song Written For 'Cold Velvet', And The One That Set The Rules

THE NIGHT ETERNAL have released a video for "Eurydice (Don't Look Back)", the fourth single and focus track from "Cold Velvet", out now on Metal Blade Records.

The song carries everything the German band have built their reputation on: a chorus that lodges on first listen, mesmeric guitar work, and rhythms that stay direct and strangely uplifting even as the material around them darkens. Lyrically it continues a thread the band have been pulling for years, extending the Greek mythology introduced on tracks like "Elysion" and "In Tartarus" into a retelling of the Orpheus story — a man permitted to lead his wife out of the underworld on the single condition that he not turn around, who turns around.

It is also the song the album was built out from. "Eurydice (Don't Look Back)" was the first piece written for "Cold Velvet", and it set the uncompromising direction everything after it followed. That makes the fourth single, oddly, the record's point of origin.

"Cold Velvet" is the band's Metal Blade debut, and on it they have effectively carved out a subgenre of their own — darkness, dreamlike unease and deep melancholy folded into a dramatic but untainted heavy metal rock 'n' roll attitude. Hypnotic, ritualistic rhythms and irresistibly catchy choruses recur across all eight tracks, pulling the listener toward something close to a trance state.

We reviewed it on release and gave it a 9/10.

The album was recorded between May and December 2025 at Church Of Sound Studios in the greater Munich area. Production, recording and mixing were handled by Michael Zech — guitarist in black metal band SECRETS OF THE MOON and a producer with SULPHUR AEON, TRIPTYKON and THE RUINS OF BEVERAST on his ledger, which tells you most of what you need to know about the register the record operates in.
