German melancholic heavy metal outfit THE NIGHT ETERNAL have unveiled a new single and video, "The Veins Of Time," the third song revealed from their Metal Blade Records debut, "Cold Velvet," due August 21.

The track opens the album's B-side and marks a new shade for the band, drawing listeners in from its very first seconds with a hypnotic, post-punk-infused goth intro that steadily builds momentum. What follows is a journey through melancholy and dreamlike atmospheres, grounded in heavy rock, culminating in an epic finale marked by dramatic interplay between Ricardo Baum's lead vocals and a powerful, expressive guitar solo from Rob Richter.

"The Veins Of Time" follows "Where This World Ends" and "Caught In A Spell" as the third single pulled from "Cold Velvet," an eight-track record the band says weaves darkness, dreamlike unease and deep melancholy into a "dramatic yet untainted heavy metal rock 'n' roll attitude," built on hypnotic, ritualistic rhythms and mesmeric riffs.

"Cold Velvet" was recorded between May and December 2025 at Church Of Sound Studios near Munich with producer Michael Zech, guitarist of black metal band SECRETS OF THE MOON, whose production credits include SULPHUR AEON, TRIPTYKON and THE RUINS OF BEVERAST. Founded in 2018, THE NIGHT ETERNAL built its sound on '70s- and '80s-rooted heavy metal songwriting filtered through a melancholic, doom-tinged sensibility, following 2021's "Moonlit Cross" and 2023's "Fatale."

THE NIGHT ETERNAL kick off a run of release shows in Kassel, Hamburg and Essen around the album's arrival, before joining MESSA on an extensive European tour running late October through November.

"Cold Velvet" is out August 21, 2026, via Metal Blade Records.
