Los Angeles death metal veterans ABYSMAL DAWN have released an official drum playthrough of their latest single, "Cradle of Affliction", with drummer James Coppolino taking the spotlight. The clip lands ten days before the band head out on their first-ever tour of Mexico.
"Cradle of Affliction" is the first new music from the band since the 2022 EP Nightmare Frontier, and it's a taste of the fifth full-length they are currently finishing. The playthrough shows off what makes the track work: a bone-crushing groove, relentless double bass and fills that don't let up for four and a half minutes.
In October, ABYSMAL DAWN join OBSCURA, THULCANDRA and ORION RISE on the eight-date Beyond the Seventh Sun tour of Mexico, where they'll play songs from across their catalog, including the new single.

Formed more than two decades ago, ABYSMAL DAWN released their most recent album, Phylogenesis, in 2020 through Season of Mist. Nightmare Frontier followed with one original song, a re-recording of the 2006 demo track "Blacken the Sky" and two covers. The current lineup is Charles Elliott (guitars, vocals), Eliseo Garcia (bass), James Coppolino (drums) and Vito Petroni (guitars). Elliott also recorded, produced, mixed and mastered "Cradle of Affliction".
