AMAROK's Overcome — the double remix album reworking the Northern California doom/black metal outfit's 2024 opus Resilience — is streaming in its entirety at New Noise Magazine, one day ahead of its September 25 release through Canada's Hypaethral Records.
As we reported when the album was announced in August, the 2xCD hands ten interpretations of Resilience to artists from across the experimental and extreme spectrum, including Ethan Lee McCarthy (PRIMITIVE MAN), Leila Abdul-Rauf (VASTUM) and Andrew Black (MIZMOR / HELL live).
Bassist/vocalist Brandon Squyres explains: "Overcome came out of the idea where we felt so strongly about Resilience and the themes involved in that album, but felt like it could be more. I feel like we collectively may have been too close to add or do a reimagining of those songs as a band. So, we asked people that we admire and are close to, as well as tackling some of them ourselves separately, and couldn't be happier with the reimagined songs that have emerged. This album is very much us, but also very much a collaboration."
A CD edition of Resilience, limited to 200 copies, arrives the same day. "Having Resilience come out in a form that may give more people access to it that maybe didn't have that before, is an amazing feeling and we are super excited to reintroduce this album to those that may have missed it," Squyres adds.
