AMORPHIS And INSOMNIUM Will Split The North American Winter Between Them — Twenty-Five Dates From November 17, HINAYANA Opening

AMORPHIS and INSOMNIUM are taking North America together this winter. The two Finnish bands will co-headline a twenty-five-date run opening November 17 at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston and closing December 19 at Irving Plaza in New York, with American melodic death/doom act HINAYANA in support throughout.

It is a well-matched bill rather than a convenient one. Both bands come out of the same cold, patient corner of Finnish metal, and both are carrying current records into the tour.

For AMORPHIS the tour continues the campaign behind "Borderland", released via Reigning Phoenix Music in September 2025. It is their first album made with producer Jacob Hansen, and it arrived after a deliberate pause: instead of chasing the momentum of 2022's "Halo" — the band's sixth No. 1 album in Finland, a Top 3 placing in Germany, and two Emma Gaala awards for Band Of The Year and Export Of The Year — they stepped away from live work and wrote.

Thirty-five years in, the lineup is the stable one: Tomi Joutsen on vocals, Esa Holopainen and Tomi Koivusaari on guitars, Olli-Pekka Laine on bass, Santeri Kallio on keyboards and Jan Rechberger on drums. The catalogue they will be picking from runs from the death metal of "The Karelian Isthmus" through the genre-defining "Tales From The Thousand Lakes" and "Elegy" to the widescreen "Eclipse", "Skyforger", "Under The Red Cloud" and "Queen Of Time".

INSOMNIUM arrive with something newer. Their tenth album, "Netherworlds", is out October 16 via Century Media — a month before the first date. The band from Joensuu in North Karelia built their reputation on melancholy played at volume, and "Netherworlds" marks a production shift: engineer and producer Miiro Varjus took a central role in shaping the record, with Jens Bogren mixing and Tony Lindgren mastering at Fascination Street Studios.
