ANTHRAX have released the official music video for "Cursum Perficio," the title track and fourth single from the album of the same name — which arrives today, September 18, via Megaforce in the United States and Nuclear Blast in Europe.
The black-and-white clip was directed by documentarian Don Argott, whose credits include LAMB OF GOD's "As The Palaces Burn" and co-direction on Taylor Swift's "The End Of An Era," according to Rolling Stone. It stars London May, best known as the sometime drummer and bassist for SAMHAIN, Glenn Danzig's band between MISFITS and DANZIG.
"Cursum Perficio" follows three earlier singles: "It's For The Kids" in May, "The Edge Of Perfection" in July and "Everybody's Got A Plan" in August. The Latin phrase translates roughly as "my journey has come to an end" — or "I complete my journey," depending on how much finality you want to read into it.
The album is ANTHRAX's first in ten years, following 2016's "For All Kings," which debuted in the Billboard 200's Top 10. The band began recording in earnest in 2022 at Dave Grohl's Studio 606 in Los Angeles, piecing the record together across the years that followed. Jay Ruston produced alongside the band.
The thrash veterans — Scott Ian (guitar), Charlie Benante (drums), Frank Bello (bass), Joey Belladonna (vocals) and Jonathan Donais (guitar) — are marking release day with a late-night in-store signing in Louisville, Kentucky. Immediately after their September 17 set at Louder Than Life, the band head to Guestroom Records on Bardstown Road to sign copies from 12:01 a.m. on September 18. Space is limited, and only fans who pre-ordered the album directly through the store are eligible.
The record is being issued across an unusually deep spread of formats: standard CD, a Target-exclusive CD with a fabric patch of the cover, and a run of double LPs with pop-up gatefolds including red and purple zoetrope variants, lilac merch-exclusive vinyl, white vinyl and a signed red ripple edition.
