Brazilian blasphemers BLASPHEMANIAC will release their second full-length, Ataque Diabólico a Sacralidade Brasileira, on November 25 via Adirondack Black Mass. The album comes out on CD, and the first track, "Odioso Manifesto Anti o Monumentalismo Sacro abraâmico", is streaming now on the label's Bandcamp, where preorders are also open.
It's the band's first full-length since 2021. In the years between, BLASPHEMANIAC kept busy with a steady run of splits and singles, and the new record picks up exactly where that underground grind left off.
The sound is a hybrid of black, death, thrash and speed metal, rooted in the '80s and early '90s. The label points to the crude violence of Brazilian forefathers VULCANO and SARCÓFAGO, the speed and fury of SODOM and KREATOR, and the old gods VENOM, HELLHAMMER and BATHORY as the reference points. The emphasis is on analog rawness and physicality rather than modern polish; the band openly rejects "contemporary sterility" and anything that smells of trend-chasing.
Lyrically, the album switches between English and Portuguese. Beyond the anti-Christian fixation the name promises, the songs deal with black magic, occultism and necromancy seen through a distinctly South American lens, drawing on the syncretic traditions of the cultures that shaped the region.
