CROWBAR return to the road this week with a North American run that lasts into November, and the context makes it a bigger deal than a routing announcement usually is.
In July we reported that the band had scrapped a twelve-date European tour because Kirk Windstein's bilateral spinal synovial cyst had flared up again. "I have been touring for 36 years, and I've never canceled a tour," he said at the time. "But due to my physical health at this point, I'm unable to get on plane flights and ride in the van for two weeks." He had already been performing seated through the spring run with EYEHATEGOD.
Eight weeks later he is starting a five-week tour. The announcement makes no mention of his condition either way, and we are not going to speculate about it — but anyone who watched that video in July will understand what it means to see these dates confirmed.
CROWBAR — Windstein on vocals and guitar, Matt Brunson on guitar, Tommy Buckley on drums and returning bassist Pat Bruders — open with two headline shows of their own: September 15 at the Radio Room in Greenville, South Carolina, and September 16 at The Broadberry in Richmond, Virginia.
From September 17 in Philadelphia they join DYING FETUS and SANGUISUGABOGG, a package we announced back in April, with LEFT TO SUFFER and DETERIORATION in support and SCORCHING TOMB added for Montreal and Toronto. CROWBAR's leg ends October 22 in Nashville; they are not on every date of the wider tour. The band are also running VIP meet-and-greets throughout, bookable through the Martyr Store.
November is where it gets loud. On the 13th and 14th CROWBAR play two nights at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California as part of SLAYER's "Reign In Blood" 40th anniversary shows, alongside CANNIBAL CORPSE and CAVALERA. Then comes The Great NOLA Trendkill on November 20-21 at Lakefront Arena, the PANTERA-headlined New Orleans festival we covered on September 8.
There is still no follow-up to 2022's "Zero And Below", the band's twelfth album. Windstein has said 2027 might finally be the year they stop long enough to write one.
