Vienna-based political hardcore punk/noise rock trio DESOLAT have unleashed "Pig Race To The Apocalypse", the first single from their third LP People As Idiots & Idiots As Leaders, out October 9, 2026 digitally and on marbled oxblood vinyl. The album arrives as a DIY coalition release by nine labels from seven countries, with Reptilian Records and Exotic Fever Records handling the US.
The record traces an arc from assessment through depression to cynicism and resignation, folding emocore elements into the band's noise rock, sludge and hardcore attack for the first time. Guests include Jarboe (ex-SWANS), saxophonist Michael Masen (MOZO MOZO) and RBK of ROLLTREPPE; Dan Swanö (EDGE OF SANITY, KATATONIA, BLOODBATH) mastered at Unisound. Fans of UNSANE, HELMET, THE JESUS LIZARD, COUCH SLUT, NEUROSIS and EYEHATEGOD, step in.
"Musically, the song is obviously influenced by The Jesus Lizard and Helmet," says guitarist/vocalist Alfred Satani. "So, if you are into that and feel like dancing to the end of the world, this one is for you!"
A hometown album release show is set for October 16 at Venster99 in Vienna.
