Dying Victims Productions will release Bloodsurge, a split mini-album pairing Finland's DET with Chile's CRITICAL DEFIANCE, on October 23 on CD and 12" vinyl. The release is set to coincide with a joint tour this autumn, and ahead of it CRITICAL DEFIANCE's new track "Kill Off" is premiering at MetalBite.
DET open the split with three brand-new tracks written in the spring, pushing further down the vicious, chaotic path of their Dying Victims debut — "but we wanted to tighten the screws even further," the power-trio say. Their side closes with a rowdy live version of early demo track "Death Night", recorded at the Catalonia Extreme Gathering festival in Spain earlier this year.
CRITICAL DEFIANCE answer with three new tracks of their razor-sharp thrash plus the acoustic instrumental "Will Of Steel", a nod to thrash's oft-overlooked tradition of quiet contrast. "These creations were not originally conceived to coexist," the Chileans state, "yet this split provided the exact space they needed to acquire a shared identity — technical execution, acoustic contrast, the exploration of darker and more extreme territories, and the overwhelming drive of thrash metal in its most violent form."
DET's "Necromancer" is also streaming at the label's Bandcamp, where the split can be preordered.
