ELEINE have released "Liars Linger", the second single and visualizer from "The Water Taste Of Blood", the Swedish band's fifth studio album, due December 4 through Algoth Records.
If "Watch As We Rise" was the sound of an empire coming down, "Liars Linger" is about what it costs when the collapse comes from inside. The song deals with the specific kind of betrayal that only cuts this deep when it arrives from someone you trusted with your life — whose words turn out to be worthless, and whose blades had been sharpened long before you noticed. It builds under tension before opening into a chorus that refuses to let the wreckage harden into fear.
"Have you ever trusted someone deeply? Maybe even to the point where you trust them with your life?" vocalist Madeleine Liljestam and guitarist/vocalist Rikard Ekberg said in a joint statement. "When trust is broken, it all falls apart. It is time to open your eyes towards all that has been, is and will become. You must realize what is now, is real. But do not fear being deceived again, use the pain to rise through the lies and reclaim your freedom."
They also put a marker on it: "'Liars Linger' is one of the strongest choruses of the upcoming album. It's heartbreaking yet uplifting, heavy but fragile. We hope our fans will embrace this song as much as we have."
ELEINE come out of southern Sweden and have spent the past several years building the kind of audience that does not show up in one campaign — a No. 1 album on the Swedish sales charts, nearly 700,000 followers across social and streaming, more than 60 million YouTube views, and stages shared with ARCH ENEMY, KAMELOT, PAIN, SONATA ARCTICA and W.A.S.P. Their 2024 European headline tour sold out multiple dates and immediately produced a second run in spring 2025.
The third is the biggest yet. In a few weeks the band open the largest headline tour of their career: over thirty shows across Europe, from Hamburg and London to Paris, Milan, Warsaw and Copenhagen, before coming home to Sweden for an album release show in Lund on December 5 — the day after the record lands.
