Greek power metal veterans FIREWIND will release their new studio album, "Gods, Myths & Titans", on February 19, 2027 through BLKIIBLK, the metal imprint of Frontiers Label Group. The first single, "The Legend Of Achilles", is out now with a lyric video.

It is a full concept record, and one the band has been circling for a long time. "We've wanted to make a concept album about Greek mythology for a long time, and finally we got around to it," said guitarist and founder Gus G. "It's been two years in the making, and our goal was to create the most epic album in the history of the band. Adding cinematic and orchestral elements to our classic metal sound gave a whole new layer, enhancing the style of FIREWIND."

The visual side got the same treatment. Each of the twelve tracks is a separate myth, and each has its own artwork by Felipe Machado. "These are tales of power, glory, tragedy, and defiance," Gus G said. "Today we give you the first single and it's about Achilles — one of the mightiest warrior legends to ever walk the earth."

The album also marks the return of Henning Basse on vocals, and it is the band's first release through BLKIIBLK. The track listing runs: "Prologue Sacrifice", "Firegod", "I Will Sail On", "The Legend Of Achilles", "Cries Of A Mortal", "Queen Of The Underworld", "Prelude The Chosen One", "Under Aegean Skies", "A King Dethroned", "Unbreakable", "Titans Fall" and "Epilogue".

FIREWIND have been at this for more than two decades, bridging classic heavy metal and modern power metal across records including "Allegiance" (2006), "The Premonition" (2008) and "Immortals" (2017). Their most recent album, 2024's "Stand United", was produced with Dennis Ward. At the centre of all of it is Gus G, whose CV takes in three albums and a stadium run with Ozzy Osbourne and, more recently, a seat in KING DIAMOND's lineup.

The band has just come off a busy European festival summer and heads to North America this month supporting ENSIFERUM — a run we covered when it was announced — with a return to ProgPower also on the books.

FIREWIND is Gus G on guitar and keyboards, Henning Basse on vocals, Petros Christo on bass and Johan Nunez on drums.
