METALLICA's foundation All Within My Hands has partnered with CNH on a Labor Day auction, and the lot is exactly as absurd and exactly as on-brand as it sounds: a custom-designed CASE TV450B compact track loader, badged the "Hetskid", edition one of twenty-five handmade units.
Bidding runs through December 17, 2026 on Purple Wave Auction at purplewave.com, where it can be found by searching "Hetskid". One hundred percent of the final sale price goes to All Within My Hands and its Metallica Scholars Initiative. Purple Wave is donating the ten percent buyer's premium it would normally take, so nothing is skimmed on the way through.
"These are the kinds of relationships we love," said Renee Richardson, director of philanthropy at All Within My Hands. "Since day one, the team at CNH has embraced the work All Within My Hands is doing."
The joke lands, but the programme behind it is serious and long-running. The Metallica Scholars Initiative funds career and technical education — welding, machining, HVAC, diesel mechanics, the trades that a heavy equipment manufacturer employs — at community colleges across the United States. To date, All Within My Hands has directed $19 million into that work. A further $8.8 million has gone to fighting food insecurity, and $6.2 million to disaster relief and critical local services.
Which is what makes a piece of construction equipment a coherent object to sell rather than a novelty. The machine is the product of exactly the skills the money funds, sold to fund more of them, to an audience that has spent forty years buying things with the band's name on them.
All Within My Hands was founded by METALLICA in 2017, funded by the band and by fan donations, with the stated aim of supporting workforce education, food banks and local emergency response. It has grown into one of the more substantial charitable operations run by any band, and the Scholars Initiative in particular has become a fixture in the community college system — an unglamorous, durable programme attached to one of the loudest names in music.
