NEW WORLD MAN will release their debut album, "I Am The Machine", on October 23 through Closed Casket Activities. The title track is out now as the first single.
Closed Casket is the relevant signal here. The label built its reputation on records that sit where hardcore stops being hardcore — the heavier, slower, uglier end of the New York and New England scenes — and a debut placed there says more about what the album sounds like than any press-release adjective would.
The track listing, meanwhile, tells its own story. Nine songs that open with "Dawn of the Machine" and run through "Sound the Alarm! (Invasion Determinant)", "Devil Time" and "Demonic Menagerie" before arriving at "Hot Dog in Pigtown" and "Down on the Farm (P.I.G.)". A record that is dead serious about its riffs and evidently not remotely serious about its song titles is a specific and recognisable New York tradition.
