Two of metal's least replaceable bands are sharing a bus. NILE and CORONER have announced "Underworld Dissonance," a co-headline run through the United States that opens March 2, 2027 at the Radio Room in Greenville, South Carolina and finishes April 11 at the Tally Ho Theater in Leesburg, Virginia — 31 shows with two headline sets every night. SYN ABSENCE provide support, with one more guest still to be announced.
The pairing makes more sense than the surface contrast suggests. NILE built a discipline out of Egyptology and inhuman tempo; CORONER spent the late 1980s and early 1990s making technical thrash that treated dissonance as structure rather than decoration. Both arrive with recent albums fully worked into their live sets, alongside the back catalogues that made their reputations.
NILE's tenth album, "The Underworld Awaits Us All," came out in August 2024 via Napalm Records, recorded by the lineup of founder and guitarist Karl Sanders, drummer George Kollias, vocalist-guitarists Brian Kingsland and Zach Jeter, and bassist Dan Vadim Von. It was tracked at Sanders's own Serpent Headed Studios in Greenville — which is why the tour starts there — with "Vile Nilotic Rites" engineer Mark Lewis returning to mix and master, and cover art once again by Michał "Xaay" Loranc, keyed to the cycle of life and the judgment waiting at the end of it.
CORONER's "Dissonance Theory" landed worldwide on October 17, 2025 via Century Media Records: ten songs across 47 minutes, recorded by Tommy Vetterli at New Sound Studios in Switzerland and mixed and mastered by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios, the Swedish room behind records by OPETH, KREATOR and AMON AMARTH.
One date on the itinerary is too good to pass without comment: on March 10 NILE play the Nile Theater in Mesa, Arizona.
