New Jersey death metal outfit OCEAN OF ILLUSIONS will release their new EP, Nexus, on October 30 via Bleeding Art Collective — just in time for Halloween. Ahead of the release, the band has dropped a visualizer for the track "Ash Hoarder."
Since their debut album Unrecognizable (2022), the band has fused European melodic death metal, djentcore and New York death metal into a sound of their own, sharing stages with THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, INGESTED, THE LAST TEN SECONDS OF LIFE and BODYSNATCHER along the way. The 2025 singles "Nexus" and "Doomed" pushed that sound further, with the "Doomed" video passing 129K views on Slam Worldwide.
The band comments: "The plan was to have every member write a song in their style and we mesh it into what we already had going. We were anxious and had doubts but once the finished product came out, we were surprised with the outcome."
On the new single: "This song explores the duality of fire — to bring warmth or cause irreparable damage."
Nexus was mixed and mastered by Dave Ricco of FACE YOURSELF; digital presaves open in the coming weeks.
