P.O.D. have released "Outbreak", a new single featuring NORMA JEAN vocalist Cory Brandan and their first original song since 2024's Veritas. It comes with a frantic music video set in the middle of a zombie apocalypse.
The track was produced by Will Yip, who recorded the band's next album at his Memory Music Studios in Philadelphia. Frontman Sonny Sandoval calls it possibly the heaviest song P.O.D. have ever written, which is why they wanted a guest who could match it. The connection with Brandan goes back to the two bands' 2024 U.S. tour together. "Cory's voice and tone bring a specific intensity and command that draws you in," Sandoval said.
The idea started with a rough guitar demo from Marcos Curiel that already carried the working title "Outbreak". "The guitar riff and warning sample immediately gave me a frantic, apocalyptic, doomsday-type vibe," Sandoval recalled, so the title stayed and became the lyrical theme. Curiel, a self-confessed fan of zombie films and video games, says the song "straddles the line between nonfiction and fiction".
Veritas featured guest spots from LAMB OF GOD's Randy Blythe on "Drop" and JINJER's Tatiana Shmayluk on "Afraid To Die". The band will spend the rest of 2026 playing festivals in the U.S., Mexico and Australia before marking 35 years together in 2027. A title and release date for the new album have not been announced yet.
