REVOCATION have released a video for "Data Corpse", taken from New Gods, New Masters, out since last year on Metal Blade Records. The clip was made with the MyGoodEye team and turns vocalist/guitarist Dave Davidson into a mutant cyborg.
"'Data Corpse' is about social media companies constantly scouring our personal lives for profit," Davidson says. "We unwittingly give up more and more of ourselves every year just to be sold a shinier pair of shoes, all until what's left of our private lives is picked to the bone. My transformation into a mutant cyborg was influenced by a lot of the imagery that originated in classic cyberpunk films like Tetsuo and Akira. Enjoy the dystopian grotesqueries."
The tech-death architects are meanwhile deep into their 20 Years Of Torment North American headlining tour, which we covered when it was announced in June. The month-long run started September 10 with DEFEATED SANITY, FUMING MOUTH and WEEPING in support, pulls from the band's entire catalog, and marks the first time "Data Corpse" is being played live — it wraps October 10 at Underground Arts in Philadelphia, with tickets at revocationband.com/tour.
New Gods, New Masters was produced by Davidson, mixed and mastered by Jens Bogren, with artwork by Paolo Girardi and guest spots from Jonny Davy (JOB FOR A COWBOY), Travis Ryan (CATTLE DECAPITATION), Luc Lemay (GORGUTS) and jazz guitarist Gilad Hekselman.
