SOUR BLOOD have released "Constellations", the most ambitious song the Poznań-based progressive and alternative rock band have written, and we are premiering the official video for it below.
The track opens on acoustic guitar arpeggios and does not stay there for long. From that starting point it develops into a genuinely mobile piece of writing — shifting tempos, heavy riffs, melodic vocal lines, a full instrumental section, and old-school guitar soloing with a distinct blues inflection running through it. The band describe it as their most collaborative, most complex and most genre-blending composition to date, and the structure backs that up: this is a song that keeps moving rather than settling into a verse-chorus shape and waiting there.
What stops it from coming apart is the vocal. Across all those changes, the melodies hold a single thread, and the result is cohesive and memorable rather than merely busy — a song about hopelessness, disappointment and the faint hope that keeps a person going anyway.
That is the subject underneath the arrangement. "Constellations" is about looking for hope in circumstances that do not appear to contain any. It turns over fate and choice, the memories that stay vivid whether or not you want them to, and the strength it takes to keep moving with everything you have accumulated along the way still strapped to your back. The title is the image that ties it together: the chaos of a human life set against the vastness of space, which reads as calm and beautiful only because of how far away it is.
