California deathcore act SUICIDE SILENCE have named their eighth album "Graceless" and set it for release on November 20 via Century Media. The title track is out now, with a video that deliberately reaches back to the look and feel of the era that put deathcore on the map.
"This is the title track off our new record," the band said. "It's a short-and-sweet crusher that gives you a taste of what this record is all about." The description fits what the song does: under two and a half minutes of blunt, physical writing, with no interest in easing anyone in.
The band made it the way it has always made records — together, in a room. That communal habit, amps cranked and arguments turning into arrangements, is what gives "Graceless" its strange steadiness in the middle of the chaos. Guitarist Chris Garza frames the goal as getting out of the band's own way: "Just get out of the way and serve that band logo. When we choose to do that, great things follow. We're back to doing it exactly as we did it when we were kids: just playing heavy shit and doing it from the heart."
There is a quiet defiance in the framing, too. Deathcore was once the word thrown at SUICIDE SILENCE as a limit; twenty-four years on from their first noise out of southern California, the band treats it as a flag planted in the dirt instead.
The album lands three weeks into the "Reminders Of Hell" tour, which opens on November 6 in Riverside, California and closes on December 13 in Los Angeles, with EMMURE, ANGELMAKER and SYNESTIA in support.
"Graceless" follows 2023's "Remember... You Must Die", produced and mixed by Taylor Young of NAILS and XIBALBA, with cover art by necrosurrealist painter David Van Gough. The lineup has moved since then. Longtime drummer Alex Lopez left in April 2022, and Ernie Iniguez — who had already recorded drums for "Become The Hunter" — has held the seat for four years. In January, the band brought in Ian Waye of SOREPTION to cover guitar while Garza took a hiatus; Garza, who also hosts "The Garza Podcast", is back.
SUICIDE SILENCE in 2026 is Hernan "Eddie" Hermida on vocals, Mark Heylmun and Chris Garza on guitars, Dan Kenny on bass and Ernie Iniguez on drums. Hermida, previously of ALL SHALL PERISH, joined in 2013 after the death of founding frontman Mitch Lucker, who was killed in a motorcycle crash in Huntington Beach on November 1, 2012.
