French black metal act TAUFPATIN have released "Ne serais-je plus la Bienvenue?", the fifth song to surface from their debut album Les Malfaisances de la Taufpatin. The record comes out internationally on October 7 via Antiq.
The new track follows "L'Attente", "L'Affront", "La Colère de La Taufpatin" and "Ma Belle Robe au Placard", all streaming on Antiq's YouTube channel. By the time the album lands, almost half of its eleven songs will be public.
The concept is pure folklore mischief. La Taufpatin is an 18th-century witch from Alsace in eastern France, a brewer of foul potions and hideous spells who was eventually burned at the stake by the townsfolk she tormented. Now she's back, and the album ("The Mischiefs of la Taufpatin") tells the story of her revenge on the good fairies who failed to invite her to their party. In true fairy-tale fashion, she grabs her broom and hat, polishes off a pot of chocolate and sets out to ruin the celebration, as the second half of the tracklist makes clear.
Antiq plays along: the label insists it "does not endorse the harming of the good fairies" and claims it was forced to release the record under a spell. The cover art is by Joanna Maeyens.
