Purity Through Fire has set October 19 as the international release date for Ruumissavotta, the second album from Finnish black metal project UHRITULET, on digipack CD. The title track is premiering now on the label's official YouTube channel.
The work of one V.P., UHRITULET surfaced in 2023 with a self-titled debut that inverted the usual formula of labelmates SARKRISTA: Finnish by geography but German in sound, drawing on the martial nastiness of Teutonic underground standard-bearers LUROR and HELLFUCKED — pure '90s-rooted black metal against modernity.
Ruumissavotta strips back some of the debut's rawness for a colder, sharper clarity while intensifying the martial stomp — the label goes as far as calling it "beatdown black metal". Still largely mid-tempo, the record runs folkish, characteristically Finnish melancholy through its hooks, detours into quieter, cleaner passages without losing its malice, and drops the temperature with occasional ISENGARD-style clean vocals from V.P.
