Norwegian black metal outfit URARV have revealed "Operation Genocide", the second track from their third album Nychta Psychis, due on October 16 through Darkness Shall Rise Productions.
The song looks at the madness that human greed breeds and the wars that inevitably follow, with particular focus on the Wounded Knee massacre of 1890 and a tribute to the memory of Crazy Horse. It follows the earlier video for the album opener, "Dødheimsgard".
URARV were founded in 2003 by Aldrahn, one of Norwegian black metal's most distinctive voices, known for his work on landmark records by THORNS, DØDHEIMSGARD and ZYKLON-B. The band's output has been small but carefully made, and the label pitches Nychta Psychis as 32 minutes of idiosyncratic, experimental black metal: a firm black metal core, but songwriting that happily reaches for elements the genre doesn't usually touch, with Aldrahn's wide vocal range front and center. Fans of early DØDHEIMSGARD are the obvious target.
