Shadow Kingdom Records has set October 30 as the international release date for Primordial Rites, the debut album from Richmond, Virginia thrash metal quintet VIGIL, on CD and vinyl LP.
VIGIL arrive at their first full-length with a demo, a single and a strong live reputation behind them. Primordial Rites packs nine songs into a 40-minute runtime, moving from full-throttle thrash to mid-tempo and mosh sections with no progressive detours or technical excess — the label calls it "a masterclass in thrash songwriting," crowned by the commanding vocals of frontwoman Jessica.
Shadow Kingdom points to early EXODUS, WHIPLASH and Canada's SACRIFICE among the record's touchstones, alongside cultier names like BLOOD FEAST, HALLOWS EVE and ZNOWHITE.
First single "Nocturnal Hunger" is streaming now at the label's Bandcamp, where the album is available for preorder.
