VOID SECTOR ZERO, the progressive thrash trio of guitarist Christian Muenzner (NECROPHAGIST, ex-OBSCURA), vocalist/bassist Alex Weber (REVOCATION, MALIGNANCY) and drummer Gabe Seeber (DECREPIT BIRTH, ABIGAIL WILLIAMS, CARACH ANGREN), will release their debut album, Dead Space Enigma, on December 11 via Season of Mist. The first single, "Vortex Divinium," is out now with a music video.
The announcement follows last week's news of the band's signing to Season of Mist.
"Vortex Divinium" draws on Bob Lazar's Area 51 claims about element 115, the supposed fuel of an alien craft's anti-gravity drive. "Musically, the song has a very proggy and neoclassical twist with traces of '70s prog and jazz fusion," Muenzner says. The video was filmed and directed by Jesus Hernandez.
The three met in 2022 while touring the world with OBSCURA behind A Valediction. Muenzner, who names CORONER, VOIVOD, TOXIK and MARTYR among his tech-thrash favorites, says the chemistry from that run made Weber and Seeber his first call. Weber adds that Muenzner's writing pushed both his bass playing and his vocals into new territory: "I feel like this album has the best recorded bass tone that I've ever gotten."
Dead Space Enigma will be available on CD digipak and gatefold vinyl in black and two marbled color variants.
