ARCKANUM have released a video for "Mz Fianda Raþi," the first track revealed from Beswærilsin, the Swedish black metal project's tenth album. Darkness Shall Rise Productions puts the record out internationally on October 31.
The title translates as "Worthy of Opposition," and the song also opens the album. It is fast and aggressive, built on hard riffing and sudden shifts in dynamics. Thematically it follows what Shamaatae calls the Thursian Path: wolfish transformation, awakening and anti-cosmic rebirth, with the spirit aligned to Fenrir's rage and cunning on the ride toward Ragnarök.
As we noted when the album was announced in September, everything released under the ARCKANUM name is an extension of Shamaatae's own Thursian practice, and Beswærilsin is presented as a single magical working in which music, lyrics, sound and artwork were developed together. The lyrics are in Old Swedish (fornsvenska), drawing on Old Norse and Swedish poetic tradition and on Swedish svartkonst.
Musically, the label describes the record as a fusion of ARCKANUM's early foundations with Shamaatae's current approach: a feral, unpolished production with no ornament, moving between the frozen storms of Niflheimr and the fire of Múspellsheimr.
