Japan's BROKEN BY THE SCREAM have released a new single, "Parallel Universe," out today on Metal Blade Records together with an official video.
The song is the band's second release for Metal Blade after "花鏑 [HANAKABURA]," which we covered in July ahead of their Wacken Open Air appearance. As before, the four vocalists, Tsubaki Nanaougi, Shizuku Mikogami, Yayoi Takayashiki and Io Nozukidaira, trade soaring melodies and harsh screams over heavy, metalcore-driven riffing.
The band explain that the song uses heliocentrism as a metaphor: just as that discovery overturned a world built around the Earth, falling in love can upend a life that once revolved around oneself. "Parallel Universe," they say, is about love, choice and the different futures that open up with every decision, the "what if I had chosen another path" moments.
The single follows a busy 2026 in Europe, where BROKEN BY THE SCREAM played thirteen shows in nine countries, seven of their headline dates sold out, and they finished the run on the Louder Stage at Wacken Open Air. Tour dates for 2027 will be announced very soon.
