Polish death metal band BURNING CREATION have released "Cannibal Viking", the second single from their upcoming album, Breath Of Fire, with an official lyric video. The record is out November 13 digitally and on CD through Via Nocturna.
Lead guitarist Marek Klimonda says the song only looks like a story about cannibalism at first glance. "Beneath this gruesome surface, however, lies a story of moral decay and just how far a person is willing to go to survive, even if the price is losing the last remnants of their humanity."
The track follows "Nothing's Gonna Save You", which we covered earlier this month. Formed in Żywiec in 2022 by the Klimonda brothers after their previous band HAURES went on hiatus, BURNING CREATION started out in melodic death and viking metal territory with the Never Dead Nation EP and the debut album Sea Of Dead Bodies. On Breath Of Fire they push toward rawer, old-school Swedish-style death metal, with the melodic and viking elements reduced to accents. The press materials name UNLEASHED, HYPOCRISY, DARK TRANQUILLITY and WOLFHEART as reference points.
The concept continues the band's saga of undead warriors returning to avenge a world that abandoned its old gods, and draws on Norse mythology along the way. The album has seven songs and an intro. The lineup is Maciej Konior (vocals, rhythm guitar), Marek Klimonda (lead guitar), Piotr Czopek (bass) and Jarosław Klimonda (drums).
