German five-piece CHILD OF CAESAR have released a music video for "Alive", the first single from their upcoming new album on Combat Records. The song came out on October 2; no album title or release date has been announced yet.
The label is the bigger part of the story. Founded in 1982, Combat Records was home to early MEGADETH, AGENT STEEL, ABATTOIR, DARK ANGEL, DEATH and HEATHEN, and it has recently been revived. In its statement, the label describes the Cologne band's aggressive, raw sound as a natural fit for that history and calls "Alive" its first release since the relaunch.
The band pitches the new material as blackened hardcore punk, citing WOLFBRIGADE, THE HAUNTED and SATYRICON as reference points. The video was shot by Jens Vetter; Dennis Pagliaro mixed the track and Tue Madsen mastered it.
Lyrically, "Alive" is about breaking free of old beliefs, inherited traditions and the blind hope that someone else will come to the rescue. According to the band, the song turns misery and self-destruction into a kind of rebirth: the moment you stop serving man-made gods and moral commandments, find your own way out and decide to live on your own terms.
