DEVIN TOWNSEND to Release DREAMPEACE Album 'Harmonic Dharma' on October 16

Devin Townsend will release Harmonic Dharma, a new album under the DREAMPEACE name, on all streaming platforms on Friday, October 16. He announced it on October 10, timed to World Mental Health Day.

DREAMPEACE is the Canadian musician's outlet for calm, sleep-friendly music. Townsend has dealt with insomnia for years and started the project as a way to help himself, and anyone else who struggles to switch off at night, wind down.

Harmonic Dharma first surfaced as a limited-edition CD sold at the shows of his just-wrapped European "Metamorphosis" run: 23 acoustic and storytelling dates across ten countries. Leftover copies go to his Patreon community first, ahead of the streaming release.

Townsend ties the record directly to the aftermath of The Moth, the orchestral metal opus performed live in March 2025 and released this year. He says the project was so ambitious, creatively and logistically, that it repeatedly pushed him into a hard place mentally, and once it was done he spent a month on retreat to recenter. DREAMPEACE, in his words, is one of the "nourishing harvests" of that time, music meant to bring balance and to serve as "a soundtrack for anxious minds." He adds that he hopes it brings listeners the same peace it brought him.

The "Metamorphosis" tour marked Townsend's return to the road about a year and a half after he announced an indefinite break from touring. We wrote about the run and its Union Chapel stop in September.

Don't expect riffs here: DREAMPEACE is ambient, not metal. But for anyone who has followed Townsend from STRAPPING YOUNG LAD's chaos to Ghost and The Moth, the quiet side has always been part of the picture.
