Swedish d-beat veterans DISFEAR have released "Shackled To Our Vice", the second single from The Last Nail, which arrives on November 20 via Relapse Records. It is the band's first album since 2008's Live The Storm and the final recording of vocalist Tomas Lindberg (also of AT THE GATES) and drummer Marcus Andersson, both of whom died of cancer before its release.
The album was written over 14 years and recorded over the last three. Instruments were tracked with Kurt Ballou at God City and with Per Stålberg at Welfare Sounds in Gothenburg; Magnus Lindberg mixed it and Sören von Malmborg mastered it. In spring 2023, Tomas was booked into Welfare Sounds to touch up a few demo vocals and ended up re-recording all eight songs on the spot. His cancer diagnosis came later that year. He died in 2025, and Andersson passed away only weeks before the album's announcement, after seeing a finished copy.
The band has said both men wanted the record out as quickly as possible and were proud of their performances on it. The Last Nail is dedicated to them and to Henrik, the bandmate DISFEAR lost to cancer shortly after Live The Storm.
"Shackled To Our Vice" follows opener "Early Graves", released when the album was announced in late September.
