DISMA Sign With Hells Headbangers, Second Album 'Exitum Profundus' Due In First Half Of 2027

New Jersey death metal band DISMA have signed with Hells Headbangers. The first release under the new deal will be Exitum Profundus, the band's long-awaited second full-length, which the label plans to put out in the first half of 2027.

The wait has been a long one. DISMA's debut album, Towards the Megalith, came out in 2011 and has since earned a reputation as one of the heaviest, most suffocating death metal records of its decade. In the years since, the band have issued only two EPs — sparse output, but each one pushed their slow, grinding churn further into the muck.

At the center of DISMA is Craig Pillard, whose vocals on INCANTATION's first two albums shaped a whole strain of cavernous American death metal. In the current lineup he handles guitar as well as vocals. Hells Headbangers describe the band's sound as primitive and ugly, likening it to early CELTIC FROST dragged through radioactive sewage — a fair summary for anyone who has heard Towards the Megalith.

Exitum Profundus is set to feature nine new tracks running over an hour. Ola Larsson, who created artwork for the band before, returns for the cover. Hells Headbangers also plan to reissue DISMA's back catalog on all formats.

The band kept their statement short: "Prepare for immense ruin and annihilation. The war has begun!"

The label says more details, including the release date and tracklist, will follow soon.
