Extreme progressive metal band DREAMER have launched a video for "Regress", the first single from their debut full-length Autogenesis. The album is out December 11 via Beyond the Top Records on digital, CD and two vinyl variants, and pre-orders are open now. The video premiered at Heavy Blog Is Heavy.
The band picked "Regress" as the opener because, in their words, it shows every side of what DREAMER do on the record: epic melodic passages, a heavy emotional atmosphere, fast technical bursts, progressive detours and a subdued clean break. They describe it as a song that keeps evolving and morphing while always circling back to itself, blending the extreme and progressive halves of their sound without giving up either.
DREAMER is the brainchild of guitarist, composer and producer Christopher Beattie. He self-released the project's instrumental demos in 2020 and 2021, after which a full lineup formed around him: Josef Hossain-Kay on drums, Zachary Rivizzigno on second guitar, Ricky Alvarado-Cabrera on bass and, later, Kyle Chapman (BLIGHTED EYE, AETHEREUS) on vocals.
In 2022 Beattie joined the death metal band THE ZENITH PASSAGE, touring internationally with them and co-writing their Metal Blade album Datalysium. All the while, DREAMER kept quietly working on Autogenesis, which now arrives as the band's first official release: nine tracks in the vein of BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME, RIVERS OF NIHIL, OPETH and NE OBLIVISCARIS, with a modern twist.
