FERNDAL Announce Third Album 'Asuras', Release Title Track

German melodic black metal band FERNDAL have announced their third studio album, Asuras, due on December 4, 2026 on CD and digitally via Bandcamp and the major streaming platforms. The title track "Asuras" is out now as the first single, accompanied by an official music video.

FERNDAL have built their sound on an unusual pairing: black metal fury set against classical music, with cello, guitars, harsh screams and clean vocals sharing the spotlight on equal terms. The band describe the new record as a continuation of that signature approach, pushed further with more intensity and deeper soundscapes. For reference points, think WINDIR, DISSECTION and VREID.

Lyrically, Asuras digs into the darker corners of the human mind, where seduction and manipulation, power and ideology lead to inner decay and the loss of free will, while a longing for liberation stirs on the threshold of something new.

The album runs 40:57 and was recorded in autumn 2024 with veteran producer Markus Stock at his Studio E. Joris van Gelre (BEZWEERING, NODFYR) appears as a guest vocalist. Alongside the single, the band have shared behind-the-scenes footage from the November 2024 studio sessions, set to the final album version of the title track.

In their own words, "power, grandeur and sincerity" define FERNDAL's artistic identity, with "an aesthetic of cool elegance" underpinned by "strong musical passion and uncompromising independence."

FERNDAL in 2026 are Sorathiel (vocals, music and lyrics), Lestaya (cello), Abarus (guitar, bass), Eskaton (guitar) and Azares (drums). The artwork is by Mosaeye, with design by Sorathiel.
