FOUR HUNDRED YEARS have released a newly remixed and remastered version of "Transmit Failure", the title track of their 1998 album. The standalone single came out on October 14 via Thirty Something Records and Lovitt Records.
The new mix closes a circle: J. Robbins, who recorded the original Transmit Failure at Inner Ear Studios in 1998, remixed the track at The Magpie Cage Recording Studio, and Dan Coutant remastered it at Sun Room Audio.
FOUR HUNDRED YEARS formed in Tucson, Arizona, in 1996 and later relocated to Richmond, Virginia. The lineup of Daron Hollowell, Dave Jackson, Erin Housholder and Ash Bruce pushed their hardcore roots into more intricate and dynamic territory, setting dissonance and aggression against melody, with a sharp political edge throughout.
Transmit Failure, originally released on Lovitt Records, is where that approach came together: tightly wound guitars, a taut rhythm section and raw dual vocals. It became the band's defining statement and a document of the DIY hardcore community that shaped them.
The band frames the reissued single as more than a look back. It's billed as the first step in a larger project connecting the band's past, present and future, so expect more to follow.
