HIPPIE DEATH CULT have released a video for "Grit, Blood & Bone", a stand-alone single and the Portland, Oregon trio's first new studio recording in three years. It is also their first release since signing with Blacklight Media/Metal Blade Records this summer.
The band describe the song as an anthem of resilience and self-acceptance, about the strength that comes with age, hard-earned scars and confidence in the face of judgment. Musically, they say, it traces the history of heavy music, running from '70s-rooted grit to the speed and percussive attack of thrash.
Guitarist Eddie Brnabic, vocalist/bassist Laura Phillips and drummer Harry Silvers are currently on a European and UK tour that started on September 30 and runs to October 30, with stops at Heavy Psych Sounds Fest in Berlin and Dresden, Desertfest in Liège and Høstsabbat in Oslo. Back home, they join the CORROSION OF CONFORMITY and THE SWORD co-headlining tour from November 2 in Buffalo to November 19 in Pensacola, then play seven headline dates through Texas and California.
HIPPIE DEATH CULT's 2019 debut 111 and 2021's Circle Of Days both topped the Doom Charts; 2023's Helichrysum, the first album with Phillips on lead vocals, became their best-selling record. The band promise more new music in 2027.
