Swedish melodic black metal band HYPERION will release their second full-length album, Elysia, on November 6 via Willowtip Records. It's the band's first record in a decade, following their 2016 debut Seraphical Euphony.
Two tracks are already out. "Iliou Persis" arrived as an official track on Willowtip's channel:
"Fides Novem" followed with a lyric video:
Formed in Stockholm in 2007, HYPERION set out to write music that is melodic and rich in harmony while staying brutal and epic. The early inspiration came from Swedish melodic death metal, and the band later folded in elements of Swedish and Norwegian black metal. Seraphical Euphony took years to write and record before it finally came out in February 2016.
According to the band, pulling together ideas from several songwriters was an arduous process, but it produced a far more complex record this time around. They describe Elysia as "an explosion of intensity that branches out in every direction," adding that calling it ambitious "would be an understatement."
